What areas of Toronto do you service?

Is your snow clearing service actually completely unlimited?

That's right! We have absolutely no visit or accumulation caps. Be it a commercial or residential property - every time it snows one centimetre (1 CM) or more, no matter how often, how hard, or how much more it accumulates, we will be there to take care of it. Not only do we automatically clear the snow, but we also provide automatic service for all freezing ice events (such as freezing rain, flash freezing, ice storms, etc...) as well! Make ice storms and freezing rain a thing of the past. Included in your flat rate, our Green Ice Melter will be applied automatically after clearing, as well as for each freezing events. We do not force any extra visit or excess accumulation charges on our customers. Even during the heaviest of winters, Monster Plowing Company's service will always remain unlimited. No matter the weather, you can always trust in Monster to keep your budget in the black.

Do I have to sign up for the entire Winter season?

Yes. We provide a flat-rate seasonal contract, which covers your property for the entire winter. Our snow and ice maintenance services are only available to seasonally-contracted clients. All of our seasonally contracted clients must sign up with us for the entire Winter for a six-month term contract. We do not offer any ad hoc or on-call services, instead choosing to concentrate on delivering a consistently high level of guaranteed, reliable, and dependable service to our seasonally-contracted clients.

How do I sign up?

First you must request a quote for your property - either by phone or online. Once you receive it included in your quote package, our twelve-page written service agreement will detail your seasonal price, payment schedule, and terms of service. You must sign this agreement in order to approve your service. Once approved, you can either mail, fax or email us your completed paperwork, or arrange for us to pick it up. Only once we receive your signed agreement will your service commence. Do not hesitate to contact us to make an appointment to finalize your contract in person, or if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to email or call us. We answer all electronic inquiries promptly.

Do we sign a written agreement? What will my quote package include?

Your quote package will include an twelve-page written contract, detailing exactly how and when the service will be performed. Our contract agreement is quite detailed and thorough, and will include a diagram of your property with all serviceable areas clearly marked. Your contract will have several service options for you to choose from, so be sure to review it carefully. Many questions about our service will also be answered in the Terms & Conditions section of your contract. Every one of our clients must sign a copy of our written agreement, and our work can only commence once your signed contract is received.

Can you shovel our walkways, sidewalks, steps, entrances, etc...?

Of course! We offer a comprehensive service designed to include all the areas of your property that you want cleared, and are equipped to handle all types of walkways, driveways, parking lots, etc... Please make sure to include a detailed description of service needs when scheduling your quote.

What are Freezing Events? Don't you just plow our snow?

Monster's seasonal service includes automatic maintenance not only for every snowfall over 1 centimeter, but also for all types of hazardous freezing ice events. Our flat rate coverage includes Green Ice Melter applied after every snow clearing visit, as well as separate applications made automatically every time there is any active winter weather which may result in slippery conditions. Included in your service, our trucks will automatically visit your property to apply Green Ice Melter every time there is any kind of threat of ice build-up, such as freezing rain, flash freezing, ice storms, sleet, slush, etc... All eco-friendly green ice melter deicing applications are unlimited, and entirely included in your seasonal flat-rate.

Do you offer any on-call services?

Absolutely not. We do not offer any on-call services, rather choosing to focus 100% of our energy and resources on our seasonally-contracted clients instead. All of our properties are contracted for the entire season. Our dedicated seasonal approach allows our operations team to adequately deliver the most reliable, customized, efficient, and consistent quality of service to our seasonal customers. Our contracted properties are maintained automatically every time there is any active weather, so once you're signed up, your service will always be performed on an autoamted basis.

Do you have any references?

Do you carry insurance?

Yes. Monster Plow holds a Contractors General Liability (CGL) policy of $5,000,000, and all of our employees are covered by the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board. Insurance certificates and WSIB clearance letters are available upon request. Feel free to email or call us in order to request the most current copies of our certificates.

What is the minimum snowfall accumulation amount before you provide service?

All of our seasonally-contracted properties receive service every time snow accumulation reaches one centimeter (1 CM) or more. Complete or Priority Package clients will also receive automatic deicer applications during freezing rain/sleet/slush, ice storms, and flash freezing events.

What kind of equipment do you use?

Monster Plow owns an extensive fleet of well-maintained plow trucks, including larger one-ton trucks with heavy-capacity spreaders or dumps for commercial and industrial parking lots, and smaller half-ton trucks for driveways and other tight Toronto spaces. Each truck is equipped with a snow plow, v-box material spreader, a commercial snow blower for walkway clearing, as well as various hand tools. We also have several skid steers and loaders for snow removal off-site and relocation, as well as multiple backup trucks in case of breakdowns. Most of our trucks are staffed with one driver, and anywhere between one to three assistants. We also send out extra handwork shoveling crews and service trucks during heavy snowfalls.

How does the GPS Tracking and Live Field Video Recording work?

Each truck is equipped with a GPS tracking device, as well as a number of cameras. The cameras can be accessed live, so at any time dispatch has multiple eyes on each and every crew out in the field. This integrated system monitors everything from the trucks location, to its speed, and even to the amount of fuel its using. It also records multiple angles of video inside and outside of the vehicle, enabling access to recordings of all field activities indefinitely. The GPS tracker sends this information back to our dispatcher, who carefully monitors each trucks progress throughout the shift. Routes are fed to the crews via a tablet mounted in each truck, with detailed site information and diagrams available to all staff out in the field at all times. Dispatch can also view all of this information online, and use it to determine when exactly their property will be serviced. All truck and visit and travel information is automatically logged. Computer generated proof-of-service reports are available on demand.

What is the term / duration of your contract?

Officially, contracts start on November 1st (or the day you sign up, if after the official start date), and end on the 30th day of April. Our contracts are designed to cover you from first to last snowfall, and we provide provisions for snowfalls happening either before or after the official start dates. You can also sign up for a multi-year term, thereby not only guaranteeing hassle-free service for the foreseeable future, but also locking in your seasonal pricing for each year covered by your contract.

When do I have to pay?

Depending on the value of your account, we generally break your payments down into several (2-3) installments, payable over the course of the winter. Invoices will be issued for each scheduled payment in bulk, upon receiving your signed agreement. We can also accommodate a monthly payment schedule for larger residential and commercial accounts. If you are presently reviewing our quote, the fifth page of your contract details exactly when your scheduled payments are due. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payment by wire, electronic funds transfer, email money transfer, or cheques in the mail. HST will be charged on all contract purchases. We are a registered income tax paying corporation, and you will receive an invoice and receipt for all payments made to Monster Plowing Company (a registered operating name of Monster Property Services Inc, HST #817776867RT0001).

What is the difference between your Complete and Priority Service Packages?

Complete Package: A comprehensive, prompt service designed to completely take care of all your winter maintenance needs for a flat-rate, seasonal price: Your property is guaranteed to receive service (clearing, and/or eco-friendly ice control applications, as necessary) prior to 8:59 AM whenever there is any active winter weather. Serviceable events include any snowfall accumulation over 1 CM, freezing rain, slush, sleet, ice storms, & flash freezing. Service performed overnight whenever possible based on the snowfall timing. Multiple service visits will be made to ensure a completely accessible property as promptly as possible. The Complete Package is most-suited for well-travelled commercial and residential properties such as retail stores, offices, condominiums, townhouses, apartments, restaurants, etc...

Priority Package: An innovative, industry-leading service for high-end properties: Your property is guaranteed to receive service (clearing, and/or eco-friendly ice control applications, as necessary) prior to 5:59 AM whenever there is any active winter weather. Serviceable events include any snowfall accumulation over 1 CM, freezing rain, slush, sleet, ice storms, & flash freezing. Service performed overnight whenever possible based on the snowfall timing. Multiple service visits will be made to ensure a completely accessible property as promptly as possible. The Priority Package is most-suited for high-end, traffic-laden commercial, industrial, and institutional properties such as banks, schools, malls, plazas, gas stations, etc...

Do you perform service overnight?

Exact visit timing depends on when the snowfall starts, how fast it accumulates, and your selected Service Package. We always perform all service within the guaranteed completion time noted on your contract, and always aim to have all of our contracted clients cleared by the early morning hours after an overnight snowfall. Daytime snowfalls require multiple visits to ensure consistent accessibility. All of our clients receive multiple service calls for daytime snowfalls, first cleared during the day, then again overnight. Your Service Package will determine the exact placement of your property within our routes. Priority Package clients are always serviced first, followed by Complete package clients. Our routes usually take anywhere from 5-6 hours for the crews to finish in full, depending of course on the amount of snowfall on any particular occasion.

Can I upgrade my chosen Service Package's guaranteed completion time?

Completion time upgrades are available on a case-by-case basis, if negotiated prior to finalizing your service contract. In-season upgrades are also possible, however depend on our operational capacity and time-slot availability at the time. Should you wish to make an upgrade to your existing contract, or are in the process of reviewing a quote provided for your property, do not hesitate to contact our office for further assistance.

Do your crew members get any kind of training?

All Monster snowfighters receive numerous hours of training, both in-class and out in the field. In-class training includes hours of instructional videos, theoretical training, and safety and awareness routines. Operating crews are also trained annually on the specific navigation of their route, refamiliarized with the technical aspects of their equipment, provided with hours of practical driving exercises, and thoroughly briefed on safety issues surrounding both the public and themselves. They are supplied with both written manuals and hands-on training out in the field, so don't be surprised if you see a couple of Monster Plows out on your property before it even snows! No, our staff aren't seeing any invisible snow, they're just practicing. We believe that preparedness reduces stress, the opportunity for damage, and the loss of time, which ultimately translates into the delivery of better service to our customers.

Do I need to be at home/on-site when you come to clear?

No, once the account is set-up and approved, you never need to be present for us to take care of the property. Our crews visit your property automatically, as determined by the specific terms of the service package you'd signed up for. Our clients are free to do as they wish with the extra free time created by never having to worry about their snow and ice maintenance!

Once the winter is underway and Monster begins servicing my property, will I need to have in-person contact with the Monster Plow maintenance crews?

Absolutely all of Monster's service delivery is entirely contactless. Your flat-rate seasonal contract includes unlimited, automatic service for every snowfall over 1 centimetre, as well as coverage for all freezing events (including ice storms, flash freezes, and freezing rain). This means that once your contract is signed, Monster will perform all of your snow maintenance services on an automatic basis with absolutely no further action or contact required on your part. All Monster snowfighters will be educated on proper face covering procedures, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. Physical distancing guidelines will be maintained at all times while our team works on your property. Should you ever feel the need to contact us, our management and dispatch offices are open 24/7 during winter weather events for electronic or phone communication. Rest assured, with Monster professionally caring for your property, you can rely on our contactless response to keep your premises safe, clear, and beautiful all winter long.

Do you send any kind of notification when there is an impending snow storm?

All of our customers receive an email notice at least 24 hours in advance of any active weather that is expected to hit Toronto or the surrounding areas. This notice includes the latest pertinent information about the impending weather including snowfall start and stop times, expected storm severity, approximate amounts of precipitation, and expected weather impacts on our city. We have many years of experience watching the weather, and our customers usually find that our updates are much more accurate and informative than any independent weather forecast.

What if there are parked vehicles in the parking lot or driveway when you come to service our property?

Although our crews can only clear accessible portions of your property around parked cars, we do offer, at the discretion of the contract holder, an on-call service the day after the snowfall in order to clear up any areas which had cars parked on them during our initial clearing visit.

What is the "Eco-friendly Green Ice Melter" you use instead of salt?

Since it's inception, Monster Plowing Company has brought countless innovations to the Toronto snow removal service industry. Undoubtedly, our most impactful and important initiative to date was our company-wide mandate to replace the use of traditional road salt with a non-corrosive, eco-friendly Green Melter. Instead of using regular road salt, we exclusively use a product called ClearLane® Enhanced Deicer (dubbed Green Ice Melter), for all of our deicing operations. ClearLane, produced by Cargill Industries, is twice as effective as regular road salt, while being 84% less corrosive. It is the only ice melting product to have received the esteemed “Design for the Environment” (DfE) stamp from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As of 2015, we have made the switch to using a product called ClearLane® Enhanced Deicer (produced by Cargill Industries and nicknamed Green Ice Melter) exclusively for all of our deicing operations. There is a lot more to snow removal than just cleaning up after snowfalls. Ice and freezing conditions on your property pose a huge safety risk, and traditional road salt is just not up to the task of providing the performance your property requires. Salt has many inherent performance inefficiencies when compared to modern eco-friendly deicing products. Green Melter is fast acting, long lasting and environmentally friendly. Did you know that regular road salt is totally ineffective in cold temperatures such as -10°C or colder? Green Melter works fast at temperatures of up to -18°C, without any of the damaging effects associated with regular road salt. Besides being a better product for the environment, it also creates much safer passage, quickly, for the people and vehicles that use your property! As per the manufacturers website: "ClearLane® enhanced deicer is a pre-wet sodium chloride made from a patented liquid magnesium chloride formula and mixing process... ClearLane® enhanced deicer is a superior deicer for effective winter road maintenance that’s anti-corrosive, better for the environment than traditional road salt and an alternative to road salt. " ClearLane® Enhanced Deicer is used exclusively for all of our deicing operations instead of salt, and is included at no extra cost for all of our contracted clients.

Can Monster review my property and create my quote package in a contactless manner, without anyone being present to show the sales team around the property?

This is a common question during the quoting process. Yes, we can definitely survey and review the property without you being present, on a completely contactless basis. This method is a perfect way to provide a fast and accurate quote while maintaining safety and social distancing measures. Please be sure to accurately relay your specific site requirements when you are requesting your quote! Our sales team will stay in contact with you either online or via the phone throughout the quote preparation process, and will provide quick and effective communication for any questions regarding the scope of work or anything else you might have in mind. Once prepared, your quote package will be delivered to you electronically via email, and the entire approval process can then be completed online!

Do you need to provide an in-person visit for the quote, or can my quote be prepared entirely online?

Despite our sales team’s desire to meet and discuss your property’s requirements in-person, the majority of quotations can be prepared on a contactless basis, entirely online. To provide a fast and accurate quotation, in most situations our sales team can use your description of the property combined with imagery from Google Maps to prepare your customized proposal. Highly detailed or hard to see online locations can be quoted effectively with telephone communication, pictures, or videos as needed. To prepare an accurate diagram of the scope of work, our sales team may also quickly visit certain properties on their own time (such as when the view is obstructed on Google maps), so feel free to request a visit should you think one is required. Online face-to-face meetings are also available via Zoom. Ultimately, the entire quoting and approval process can be completed entirely online!

I have a busy, complex property layout that I would like to review in person with Monster. What do I do?

Although most properties can be quoted without the need for an in-person meeting, face-to-face property reviews and quotations can be provided as long as social distancing guidelines are followed and can be safely maintained. Most meetings can take place outdoors, where social distancing can be easily upheld. Contact us at any time to request your quote, and book your on-site meeting if required. Feel free to discuss social distancing accommodations with our team when you are scheduling your meeting.

Can an accurate quote be provided via Google maps satellite or street view imagery? Don't you need to see my property in-person?

Based on your initial description of your property, a very accurate scope of work can be created via satellite image for most locations. Recent advancements in satellite imaging detail every door, pathway, gate, and even smaller site specific features. Our sales team is generally able to accurately review most properties with tools available online, and use the most up-to-date imagery to create your customized scope of work. Any further details can easily be confirmed over the phone or via email, either in advance of your custom property diagram and scope of work being created, or adjusted upon request as required.

I'm ready to move forward with my Monster proposal. Can I approve my contract electronically?

Absolutely! Your customized quote package, once prepared, will be made available electronically via email. The twelve-page written quote will include your customized Service Package pricing levels, selectable service options, payment schedule, and a detailed computer-generated diagram of all areas to receive service within your property. Full contract terms and conditions will be thoroughly explained within this file. This file will also serve as your written contract should you proceed to sign up. To approve, you can either electronically sign this contract back to us via email, or physically print, sign, scan and return the paperwork to us via any method (electronically or via regular mail). How are you responding to the COVID-19 Pandemic?

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Monster has instituted a thorough response plan to keep our staff and our clients, as well as their visitors, healthy and safe. Despite the hardships posed by COVID-19 to all of Toronto’s residents and businesses, we don’t anticipate any impact on our ability to keep Monster’s systems and infrastructure reliably performing above our client’s continued high expectations. Our philosophy as a business is to approach any situation with empathy and urgency. We have been especially mindful of those experiencing hardship during the pandemic, and have responded diligently to the evolving needs of the community where we live and work.

What measures is Monster undertaking to limit the spread of COVID-19, especially amongst your staff?

Monster takes the health and safety of not only our team, but every single person our team might come in contact with, very seriously. We have developed a thorough and up-to-date protocol to address all of the new safety rules and requirements that have been enacted since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Monster has implemented a variety of measures to ensure that all Monster team members are up to date on the latest safety information, including posting notices in common areas, sending emails and other forms of electronic communication with updates, as well as conducting routine virtual and in-person team meetings. All Monster staff will be screened for symptoms every time they arrive to work, and have been advised to monitor their own health and report any concerns to management immediately. Physical distancing guidelines are required to be maintained by all staff while on shift, especially when maintaining such distance does not impede our team’s performance of the essential service work at hand. All Monster snowfighters are educated on proper face covering procedures, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette, as well as the proper use of cleaning agents and disinfectants. Cloth face coverings and hand sanitizer are made available to all Monster staff, free of charge. Our management team will continue to monitor the latest public health information, and will apply any new recommendations immediately. As you can see, our entire team is taking the risks associated with working through the pandemic very seriously.
